Registering for classes:
Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis.
A completed online registration must include first month's
tuition and registration fee(s). Please feel free to call
the studio if you have any questions or send an email
to deanna@dancemodestudio.com.
The system will send you a confirmation of registration
and payment. You will also be able to log in to the site to
check your status at any time.
Classes will be closed when they become full and names will
be added to a waiting list. Classes not meeting
minimum enrollment may be cancelled.
You may register online by clicking Register/Login above.
Upon registering, payment is due with a credit or debit
card online in order to secure class(es).
|
Registration Fee:
There is an annual non-refundable registration fee due at the
time of registration. This fee is $20.00 for each individual
dancer or $40.00 for each family with two or more dancers
living in the same household. Registration fee
is due at the time of registration for each regular session
(September through June) with the first month's tuition.
|
Tuition:
Dance Mode Studio charges Tuition on an annual basis. One
class costs $600 for the season. The tuition is then divided
evenly into 10 monthly installments
(One class costs $60 monthly); September through June. We do
not take into account the number of classes during these
months, as this is just a simple way to break up the annual
fee into smaller monthly installments.
|
Payment Options:
Monthly tuition is due the 1st day of the month and all
accounts will automatically be charged a $20.00 late fee if
paid after the 7th of the month: NO EXCEPTIONS.
Regarding Non-Payment:
- Tuition not paid by the 2nd class of the month,
dancer will not be able to participate in class and can
only observe if attending (without tuition credit).
- Tuition not paid by the 3rd class of the month, a
30-Day drop notice and final statement will be issued and
all amounts will be due and payable immediately.
- Once account is brought up-to-date or acceptable
communication is made with Director, your dancer's
registration will be happily reinstated.
There are several payment options:
- Check, Cashier's Check or Money Order payable
to "Dance Mode Studio."
- Online via Credit or Debit card by logging into
your account and making a one-time payment.
- Recurring payment via credit or
debit card on file.
- To prevent late fees you may elect to use our
Recurring Payment system. This system is manually
activated once a month. When activated all Recurring
Payment accounts will bill the credit/debit card "on
file" the full balance due on the account. This
includes outstanding registration fees, tuition
charges, costume deposits and charges and late fees.
This system does not automatically bill a set amount
automatically, so there is no risk of the system
billing you for charges that you did not incur.
Again, you are only billed through the Recurring
Payment system if your account has a positive
balance.
- Please note: Initial payment
at registration is paid via credit or debit card
online. This does NOT activate a monthly recurring
payment option on your account. The "Enroll in the
Recurring Payment Plan" button MUST be selected in
order to be activated. Once selected you will receive
an email confirmation. If you do not receive
confirmation and believe you selected Recurring
Payment plan, feel free to contact Dance Mode Studio
for assistance or view/adjust your account online.
CASH will NOT be accepted for registration or tuition payments.
|
Returned Checks:
There will be a $25.00 service fee on all returned
checks, including Stop-Payment Checks. After 3 returned checks
on the account we will require payment by money order,
cashier's check or credit/debit card.
|
Adding & Dropping Classes:
You may add a class at any time during the open enrollment
period from your online DMS account. Simply log in to your
account, choose "Add a Class" for your dancer and select a class.
Your account will be adjusted automatically for the added class
and any prorates that apply. If a class is added online after
attending the class, the office will adjust your account for the
class attended.
There is a 1 month minimum tuition. Dance Mode Studio will make
an exception to this rule as follows…

There are two ways to drop a class
- Send an email to
Drops@dancemodestudio.com
- Come into the studio office with a written note
Both notices should contain the following information:
- Dancer's Name
- Class Name, Day, Time, Teacher
- Reason for drop
Since the email system can have errors, please follow up with
the studio if you do not get email confirmation of the drop
within 48 hours. You may be asked to re-send the original
email notice.
Drops are accepted by the 2 ways described above. We will
not accept a verbal notice through a 3rd party (other parent,
dancer friend or the teacher). If a dancer stops coming to class,
we will NOT automatically drop him/her. You will continue to be
responsible for tuition for the following four (4) weeks of
classes, equaling one (1) month of tuition from the date the
email/request is made. During this 4 week period, the dancer is
still considered enrolled in the class and may attend. The studio
also requires full payment for any costumes and supplies ordered
on your behalf, regardless of drop date.
If transferring classes (dropping 1 class and adding 1 class),
the 30-day notice policy is waived.
|
Waitlists:
If you attempt to register for a closed (full) class, you will
be asked to join the class waitlist. We do our best to get all
students into class, so we handle the waitlists as follows...
- We may extend the maximum enrollment for the class,
if we feel it is possible.
- We may open another, similar class, if we feel there
is enough to meet minimum enrollment.
- Some dancers may drop or transfer within the first
couple weeks and waitlist students will be placed into
the class.
If you do choose to join the waitlist, please do not
attend the class until you are notified that you have
been placed on the class roster.
|
Holds:
We are not able to HOLD a spot in a class, if your dancer is unable to
start in the class right away. The only way to protect
your dancer's spot in a class, you must register them and
pay tuition as though they are in the class. During this
time the dancer should notify the teacher to let them know
the situation. This way we can communicate what the level
of difficulty will be to catch up with the class upon
their return.
|
Drop-Ins:
You may attend a class on a drop-in basis. Drop-in fees are
$18.00 per class. The drop-in fee is due before the class
begins. If a class becomes full, the teacher is unable to take
any drop-in students.
Please note that dancers attending class on a drop-in basis
will not be eligible to participate in the June Performance.
|
Private Lessons:
Private lessons may only be arranged with the Director. It
is important that in order to take private lessons, you should
also be enrolled in regularly scheduled group classes to
further benefit your dance technique, and your account must be
in good standing.
|
Class Make-up Policy:
Legitimate absences must be phoned in prior to class in order
to be eligible for a make-up class.
Tuition credit or refunds will not be given for any missed
class whether or not they are made up.
Classes eligible for make-ups:
- Should be in dancer's age and level
- Must not be a closed class
- Must be a class in which dancer is not already registered
- Must be taken within 60 days
- Only valid during September-June dance season
For any class cancelled due to teacher absence, a rescheduled
class will be arranged with that teacher if at all possible. If
a rescheduled class is not possible, the above Class Make-Up
Policy will be utilized.
When notified in advance of a prolonged illness or injury keeping
the student out of class for longer than one month, your account
will be put on hold and your space held for a month at a time
only if you have notified the Director immediately and a
Doctor's note has been given. When returning, a Medical
Release will be required.
|
Dress Code:
Each dance style has a different dress code that will
be strictly enforced. Any dancer who comes to class
without the proper attire may be asked to observe class only.
You can purchase your dancewear at any dance supply shop. Our dress code is on file with the following:
Capezio Dance Theater Shop
309 South B Street
San Mateo, CA 94401
Monday-Friday 10 am – 6 pm Saturday 10 am – 5 pm
They have a 15% off "Back to School" Sale through the month of September.
We also encourage you to use CostumeManager.com.
They are set up with all the correct colors, shoes, leotards and tights that are required for your class. You can also use their site to reference the dress code by viewing the worksheet if there is any confusion.
Visit our Dress Code for a complete list of required dancewear and instructions on how to place your order with CostumeManager.com.
|
Class Placement:
Proper class placement is important to each dancer's
learning development. Peers and scheduling convenience will not
be considered during this level process. A class that is too
easy will be boring and a class that is too difficult will
be frustrating. If a teacher feels a dancer's individual
abilities do not match the class, you will be notified by
the teacher and/or Director; and come up with a new
schedule together. All dancers' levels are assessed during
the first month of classes.
|
Marketing Material:
During the course of the year we will be photographing or
videotaping during classes. When we get that Perfect Shot, we
may use it for marketing on brochures, DMS website, DMS
Facebook page or flyers. Your dancer's image may possibly end
up on this material. If you would prefer your dancer's image
to not be included, please notify us by telephone or via email
at
registrations@dancemodestudio.com.
|
Keeping Up-To-Date:
We have learned that information that is given to students
in class does not always make it home. Though we will continue
to give updates to the students, your best resource for
up-to-date information is at our website and on our Dance
Mode Studio Facebook Page. The Calendar will keep you abreast
of all events, while the News Page will keep you posted on any
new developments.
We frequently send out information emails. In order to
receive these emails, your DMS account must be set to "OK to
send me emails."
To check this setting:
- Go to www.dancemodestudio.com
- Click Register/Login
- Enter email and password
- Click "Edit Family Info" in Step 1
- Set Opt-Out of emails to "OK to send me emails"
- Click "Save"

Tuition page.

Parent / Child Observation Week
Parent / Child Observation Weeks are held the last full week of every other even month (October, December, February, April). This is the week where parents are permitted to observe their dancers' classes and children are permitted to observe their parents' classes inside the dance rooms. Family members and friends are also welcome. We provide this opportunity for parents so they can observe the growth of their dancers and so they can understand their child's dance experience in class. It is a great time to take photographs and video of your dancer, so bring your cameras. Please note that some dancers may become uncomfortable or shy when there is an audience in the room, so please let them know ahead of the class time that parents may be watching.
In order to provide the best possible experience during Observation Week, here are some helpful tips we would like observed during class:
- Turn off all cell phones while in the dance room.
- Refrain from talking to other observers in the dance room. It is difficult for the dancers to concentrate and for the teachers to keep their attention with other distractions in the room.
- Refrain from coaching or disciplining your child during the class.
- Keep all food, drinks and gum out of the dance rooms.
- Wipe outside shoes on mat before entering the dance rooms.
